Point-in-time recovery

With point-in-time recovery, you can restore your database to any moment within the retention window. A restore always creates a new instance. Your current database is left untouched.

You'll find Point-in-time recovery on the overview page for your database. Here you'll see the retention period, the earliest and latest restore point.

Restore a database

Restoring a database does not overwrite your current database. Instead, a new database will be created from the point-in-time backup.

To restore a database, click Restore in the Point-in-time recovery overview.

Next, you can choose to recover from a predefined point in time, such as Latest, 1 hour ago, or Earliest, or select your own specific time. In the example below, we've selected a specific time.

Select a name for the new instance, a plan, and the data center. You can keep the predefined values to recover to the current data center using the current plan. You can also upgrade the recovered database to a different plan, or recover to a different data center.

Once you're satisfied, click Restore.

A new database instance will now be created, containing the data from the specific point in time you selected. Since this is a new instance, it has a new hostname.
